soft dirt
digging quietly
working peacefully
breaking the earth
songs carried by the wind
stars illuminate the sky
the city sleeps at night
but she sleeps
quietly
peacefully
welcome home

I've always wanted one
Though I've never shown it
I've always said
"I don't need one"
I've always wished that
Somewhere
Someone other than God
Cared

you're breaking through the window
cutting yourself in the process
you're crawling through the hallway
leaving a trail of your blood
you're reaching for the doorknob
trying to get inside the room
you're climbing up the side of my bed
but i am dead just like you

our bones are broken
rib cages cracked open
our hearts are exposed
jesus can heal us
we're not alone

i'm pounding in the nails
pushing down the crown of thorns
you're looking inside my heart
the veil has been torn

(chest) cavity

The door knob was cold against her flesh. She slowly turned it and pushed open the door. As soon as the door was open, a rush of cool air poured out of the dark room. She stepped inside.

The room was calm and quite. Faux wood blinds prevented sunlight from entering the tranquil place. As she walked towards the bed, she sighed deeply and a small tear formed in her eye. She sat on the bed.

The pillow that she held in her arms was soft and comforting. She blinked her eyes and the small crystal trickled down the side of her face. When it hit the surface of the pillow, the tear drop was immediately absorbed. She lowered her head into the pillow and continued to think. Memories flashed through the corridors of her mind. She closed her eyes.

The squeak that came from the corner of the room was soft and fragile. However, it was loud enough to awaken her from the trance that she had slipped into. She immediately recognized the sound; she stood up and walked towards the faint cries. No food, no water.

That morning the hamster died, and her son started kindergarten.

my love,
you are the only one
for me
the brightest star in the sky
they'll see
us shining from afar
they'll know that you are
beautiful

fair as the moon
clear as the sun
terrible as
an army with banners
my love

my words
could not express to you
my love
a precious crown crafted up
above
two hearts entwined as one
purified by the sun
so beautiful

I sat down beneath a tree and unzipped my backpack. The soft green grass was moist, and the coolness of the shade was pleasant. While I looked through my bag for a book, little yellow flowers fell from above. After shuffling around objects in my backpack, I found the book and began to read.

My eyes moved over each word on the page, and each word rolled around in my mind. I didn't just want to see the words; I wanted to comprehend what I was reading. The giant clock mounted on the wall of the science building chimed. Despite my best efforts, distraction prevailed and I set down the book.

People walked by quickly. They did not know that I was there in the grass watching. One man moved his legs in a rhythmic pattern. His mind seemed occupied. One hand held a coffee; the other hand was pressed against the side of his face. His mouth opened and closed, and his eyes did not stray to the left or to the right. I don't think he was listening, because he never stopped talking.

The wind softly turned the pages of the book. As I picked a flower out of my hair, I watched some people in the distance. The man, woman, and child walked towards me. I recognized the lady. I took one of her classes a few quarters ago. She didn't seem to see me, and she continued walking with her family.

I picked up the book again. My eyes moved over each word.

"Hey!"

I looked up and saw the girl. For just a brief moment, the hands on the giant clock stopped moving, the wind died down, and the little yellow flowers floated in mid-air. I took a deep breath, and the flowers rushed down to the ground.

I replied, "yes?"

As she slowly lifted her hand to her mouth, her ring finger and pinky finger tucked behind her palm. She pressed the two remaining fingers on her lips.

"Do you have a..."

Oh no... I hate smoking.

i'm sick of saying
"i'm tired of doing
the same thing all over
and over again"

i'm trying
still dying

but trying
only leads
to nowhere

look, an incision
your shell splits
the baby breaks out
of the cocoon
lick up the honey
stuck in it?

oh, boy
you're such an ugly butterfly

wings not like eagles
broken legs
your mandibles are
covered with trash
capture the queen
make more eggs

"The vectors A, B, and C form a linearly independent set."
The student looked down and scribbled with a pen.
The teacher continued on about vector spaces.
As they both lifted their eyes towards the same place on the wall,
The hands seemed to stop because they wanted to go home.
And the pen gently danced across the page of blank paper
While the chalk filled the board with words that were not copied.
And the hands continued ticking as the clock continued tocking.

Brother, I haven't seen
Your face in quite some time.
I hope you know that you're not
The only one hurting inside.

Though your mother left
And your father died...
I know you're looking for love
Stop pushing it aside.

here's my apple
defiled by worms
and the branches have withered away

the fruit falls
the roots have all died
in the distance i see the flames

oh little sister
let's go down to the river to pray
oh sweet vinedresser
tend to the dying trees

A kitty cat
A candy cane
A carrot for
A cute bunny
A little kiss
Upon cold lips
Can help to ease
The pain

The simplest things
In life it seems
Are all we really need

1.18.2008

they're breaking through the windows
wandering the streets
a quiet riot
instead of looting
they're looking for something to eat

what they want is fresh flesh
what they want is a taste of you

he bit off more than he could chew
instead of just one arm
he bit off two
zombies are greedy
i guess that remains
even after we meet the grave

they're slowly moving towards us
shuffling their feet
with outstretched arms
softly moaning
they're dying for a bite to eat

he bit off more than he could chew
instead of just one arm
he bit off two
even zombies are greedy
i guess that remains
they're hungry
self-seeking
though their hearts have stopped beating
so let me ask you this
what's the difference
between life and death
oh feel it coming
the torn flesh no longer stings

1.04.2008

do you copy?
are you listening?
the bombs have been placed
in the building
the virus is ready to go
it will be released
when the bombs explode
with hundreds of people inside
and those who don't die
will be eaten alive

by zombies

can you see
in the horizon
flashing lights
the sound of sirens
they're driving towards the building
to put out the fires
and save the civilians
but what they don’t know
is that the dead didn’t die
and nobody’s alive

zombies

praises rise
hands lifted high
"holy, holy, holy is"
honoring Him with our lips
"our Lord God"
our hearts are far
away from Him
"almighty"
